Stuck Frameset after uninstall or Frameset Hangs
We've come across something that impacts LaunchPad on some hosts that has affected a small percentage of our current install base. NOTE. This does not affect your Miva Store data in any way.. it's a simple problem with file permissions of the files that construct the admin frames.
We're working on how to deal with this within the product install / uninstall, but in the meantime here is an explanation of how LaunchPad works. For many people, knowing this will allow them to manually fix this problem in seconds if it arises, so it is explained here. If this is affecting you we are very willing to jump in and fix it for you - just email launchpad@MivaCentral.com.
The file that tells Admin how to display itself is found at:
- /Merchant2/4.xx/site/frameset.mv ( around 1500 bytes in size )
When LaunchPad installs it makes a backup of this file, and users itself as the new frameset.
After an install you will see:
- /Merchant2/4.xx/site/framesetmvc.mv ( THIS IS THE ORIGINAL 1500byte file )
- /Merchant2/4.xx/site/frameset.mv ( THIS IS THE LAUNCHPAD REPLACENT which is bigger. )
If you have uninstalled and after logout / login you still see the LaunchPad frameset it means that LaunchPad failed to restore the original.
To fix this MANUALLY you can use FTP or SSH / Telnet to rename the framesetmvc.mv file to frameset.mv.
We have found ONE instance where due to file ownership the frameset that LaunchPad created was unreadable by MIVA. If this has happened to you, the best thing to do is the same thing - overwrite the file frameset.mv with framesetmvc.mv to restore the original settings.

I installed LaunchPad but I don't see it appear on my screen
LaunchPad changes the admin frame settings, so it won't appear until you logout and login again. If you have done this and it STILL doesn't appear, then it is very likely that for some reason your server is configured in a way that the files which LaunchPad must manipulate on install have their permissions set incorrectly. If this is the case it is possible to manually adjust the frameset. Drop us an email..
Q. I can't find the LaunchPad configuration Screen.
The configuration screen is in under the Domain Settings menu, however there is a QuickLink in the bottom left corner of LaunchPad itself. If you have Miva Merchant Version 4.00 you may find that the link from LaunchPad is the ONLY way to bring up the configuration screen.
