The subtotal module by ZIP code zone allows you to specify
different shipping rates based on the method of shipping
AND the subtotal cost of the order AND the area of the
country the item is being shipped to. This module evaluates
the first three numbers of the "ship to" ZIP code and displays its methods and
rates applicable to the destination. This prevents customers from selecting its lower rates which may
not be available for them. The module can also exclude
specific product codes from the subtotal calculation, i.e.
doesn't charge shipping for specific products but does charge for
those not on the exempt list. You can also
have a zero shipping charge for any subtotal range, e.g. free
ground shipping on orders over $200. If you
want to apply a percentage of the subtotal instead of a specific
amount, you can include the % with the rate for any subtotal
range. The module will not block the display of methods from
other shipping modules if you have more modules assigned
to your store. Not compatible with the current google checkout module as that module does not use the customer's address to select the shipping methods available.
The module currently fully supports the mivasql configuration of MIVA Merchant 5. It also supports MySQL as long as load balancing has the data stored on the single MySQL server and
permissions are set correctly on the data
directories. This would be the case in most of the server setups. If you are using Merchant 5.x and your host is web.com, you will not be able to use this module due to the way they configure their servers. There are no known issues with
other hosts.
